Going Global

Between the somewhat tribal print and the South African necklace, I felt a little more worldly and a little less city. Of course, the fact that I had taken the day off contributed to this vacation feel, but I'd like to think the outfit was partly responsible.
I was iffy on drop-waist dresses for a while. Sure they are crazy comfortable but I was worried I would look like I was trying to make a potato sack chic. As always, Tibi came through with this fabulous swingy dress, which hopefully looks as good as it feels! Chalk one up for a new-found open-mindedness (however I still refuse to change my mind on overalls...)

Fancy Friday

macarons, cupcakes, and tulle
{image}

I think its safe to say that this is what I would like to be doing (and wearing) ANY day of the week, but it is most certainly even more perfect for a Friday. It doesn't get much better than macarons, cupcakes and tulle...just throw in some bubbly and you have yourself a real party.
This gorgeous cooler weather that we are having has me already thinking about taking road trips to wine country and apple orchards...but I'm sure that will all change by next week. The crisp air has reinvigorated me (ok and this morning's iced coffee) and I feel the need to go enjoy my city!

Whatever you have planned, have a great weekend!

The Bold and the Blue: A Red Carpet Debut

The second I saw this skirt over on Hallie Daily, I was head over heels in love. I mean, bright blue, ridiculously twirly, scuba materials AND the cherry on top, pockets! Total perfection, totally obsessed...and it was totally sold out. I kept stalking it until finally they re-stocked it, and by the time I got home to order it was sold out again. The fashion gods must have been feeling sorry for me, because I finally got my hands on it {ok and also in the pink color, whoops.}

My Mom, Sister and I had tickets to go to 'The Book of Mormon' at the Kennedy Center this week, and what better place to debut my new treasure than at the theater? I wanted to twirl all down the great hall, but settled just for taking my usual selfie (but hey, no fake wood!) I can't resist throwing in a few shots from the Kennedy Center I snapped as well, its just so glamorous!

City Safari

I'm a sucker for a good consignment score (well, who isn't?) so when I found this top and skirt at Secondi, totaling less than $100, I couldn't resist. While I always find cute items there, it can still be a little pricey for this gal. My lavender Milly jacket ended up matching really well-- a pleasant surprise since it was before my morning espresso.
I love how sometimes all it takes are a few new-to-me items to make old stand-bys feel fresh again. Of course, shopping in my own closet is why I always have a hard time getting rid of anything (hey, a silver sequin tunic will be practical one day.)
One day, I'll be ruthless and commit to The Great Closet Purge. One day.

The Beauty of the Belt

I got this dress a few months back on sale from Anthropologie and was in love with the pattern and light flowy material. The cut of it is crazy comfortable, but I was worried that it looked like I was just wearing a gigantic Hawaiian shirt as a dress. So I followed one of my truisms-- When in doubt, belt it. Voila! Now its got a little bit more of a casual devil may care vibe, which I can totally get down with.

It truly feels almost criminal to be this comfortable!

Fancy Friday

Its a given that I daydream of moving to Paris at least once a week, but the busier real life gets, the stronger the urge is to just pack up and go. Given that I can be overly practical (really!) when it comes to big decisions, its not likely that the next post you see will be written from a little French cafe.

So for now, I'll just pretend that I am in this fabulous pink dress, perched on a windowsill, looking out over Paris. Certainly more exciting than the reality of working all weekend...

Whatever your plans are, I hope they involve A/C and a cold beverage!

Walking on Sunshine

This dress just makes me happy. The sunny yellow shade and the floppy flowers just shout summer...and heatwave. A breezy dress combined with a high bun is the only way to go when the temperatures hit 100, well the only way appropriate for work that is.

This is pretty much my uniform for the week, which turns into cutoffs and a tee on the weekend. Only thing missing is a giant iced coffee...

Fancy Friday

It goes without saying that I want every single bit of this in my closet, but I'll say it anyway, love love love it! The dress is like a watercolor in motion, and the accessories just make the colors pop even more. I want to throw this on and go traipsing around galleries and passing the rest of the time in cafes.

A girl can dream right?

After a much more stressful than usual week, I am looking forward to some quality girl time this weekend even more than usual. The countdown starts...NOW

Have a great weekend!

Paisley Party

I got this dress at H&M last year but still love it. The bright colors, pattern, slightly full skirt, it all makes me feel like I've stepped out of the 1950's. Of course, its only fitting than that I pair it with two vintage pieces (thanks Mom!) I could go on and on about how great vintage is blah blah blah, but you already know that now don't you?
A pictures worth a thousand words anyway!

Blazer: Kulson // Dress: H&M {try this and I LOVE this Carven} // Belt: Vintage

Necklace: Vintage from Mom // Ring: Ambiance // Bracelet: HRH Collection

Absolutely amazing detail, yet another reason why vintage rules!

For the Love of Leather

I am obsessed with leather in any form, be it real or faux, natural or colored, I'll take one of each! This skirt just happens to be faux, as well as one of my favorite colors (if you can call nude a color of course.) It goes with everything AND it even has pleats. Literally the only thing that could make it better would be pockets.

Excuse me while I twirl again...

One and Done

I've been bad. Irresponsible. Unforgivable. Yes, I have not posted since the 4th of July. I keep meaning to but things have managed to be crazy lately (both good and bad!) I'll bake you cookies to make up for it, ok?

I love this A.P.C dress, not just because my amazing friend gave it me, but because its so effortless. Instead of spending time mixing and matching in the morning, just throw it on and BAM done. What's not to love about that? I was feeling extra crazy and went all silver for the accessories.
