The Beauty of the Belt

I got this dress a few months back on sale from Anthropologie and was in love with the pattern and light flowy material. The cut of it is crazy comfortable, but I was worried that it looked like I was just wearing a gigantic Hawaiian shirt as a dress. So I followed one of my truisms-- When in doubt, belt it. Voila! Now its got a little bit more of a casual devil may care vibe, which I can totally get down with.

It truly feels almost criminal to be this comfortable!

Paisley Party

I got this dress at H&M last year but still love it. The bright colors, pattern, slightly full skirt, it all makes me feel like I've stepped out of the 1950's. Of course, its only fitting than that I pair it with two vintage pieces (thanks Mom!) I could go on and on about how great vintage is blah blah blah, but you already know that now don't you?
A pictures worth a thousand words anyway!

Blazer: Kulson // Dress: H&M {try this and I LOVE this Carven} // Belt: Vintage

Necklace: Vintage from Mom // Ring: Ambiance // Bracelet: HRH Collection
Nail Polish: Essie 'Naughty Nautical'

Absolutely amazing detail, yet another reason why vintage rules!

Checkmate

I've always loved the mod look, and when I saw Marc Jacobs take on it for Louis Vuitton's Spring 2013 campaign I flipped. Beyond perfection! Also, beyond my wildest dreams of ever affording it, so when I spotted this skirt on Asos for less than the cost of a night out, I had to make it mine.

Sweater Jacket: J. Crew {similar// Top: Zara // Skirt: Asos {sold out but try the mini version!}
// Belt: Linea Pelle {similar}

Earrings: H&M // Bracelet: J. Crew Factory

Heels: Steve Madden {try these or these}

I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect nude flats, so stay tuned...

Where's Hillary?

I've realized that while my references always make sense to me (obviously), they may appear totally random or just plain nonsensical  to others. So, just in case you were not allowed to read books as a child or lived under a rock, this is referring to the outfit of Waldo in the "Where's Waldo" books. Ok, now that we got that out of the way, here is the lowdown on today's look.

Cashmere Tee: J. Crew // Long Sleeved Top: Isli // Skirt: H&M {old but try this or this

Watch: Michael Kors // Belt: Ralph Lauren {similar here and here}

Belts Make Everything Better

Even though this leather wrap belt may be one of my favorite things ever (for proof just read my post on it) I don't often break it out. Not only does it keep the sweater from making me look like a bag lady, it provides a much needed pop of color. Waist definition and makes the outfit? Ok, I'll take it.

Sweater: BCBG {this Joie one is close} // Long Sleeve Shirt: H&M //
Faux Leather Skirt: Max Studio {similar here} // Belt: Giorgio Armani {try this or this}

Coat: J. Crew Plaza Coat // Bag: Marc Jacobs
I really should not have to wear a wool coat when its officially spring. Not cool Mother Nature, not cool.

Rings: Vintage finds from Ebay // Nailpolish: Opi Cha Ching Cherry and Essie Lilacism
