Dreaming of Paris

This leather skirt is by far one of my best finds-- I mean, a vintage midi-length leather skirt for under $20? I thought I was hallucinating! I've had the shirt for a bit but never wore it much because the length was odd...until a simple knot made it the perfect length for the outfit.

The top has some of my absolute favorite things-- sequins, stripes, and not only a word, but a French word at that. Paris is always on my mind, and certainly in my dreams! Just like my rapidly growing sneaker collection, my graphic tee collection shows no sign of slowing!

Top: J. Crew {try this striped one, or this or this..but so many great options!}

Swingin Springin Sixties

The colors alone on the dress just make me smile whenever I put it on, the fact that its oh so retro makes it one of my favorites. Of course, when something is this memorable you can't exactly wear it every day, but when I do it instantly brightens my mood...and most of the time the day too!

Channeling Chanel

While to some degree, I play dress up every day, Halloween obviously takes this love to a new level. Sadly, I'm not in elementary school anymore, where wearing crazy costumes is de rigeur. Still, I couldn't resist at least having a theme to my outfit for Halloween. When in doubt, go Chanel right?

A Mini Midi Moment

Ok, so this is not my first (nor will it be my last) ode to the midi, but I truly am hooked on them and I'll take any excuse I can to use alliteration. While this is not as voluminous as the midi's I've been sporting lately in everything from neoprene to leather, it still counts.

Cherry on Top

For some reason this summer, I decided that I simply had to have a red dress. Not the Jessica Rabbit Hubba Hubba red type of dress, but a classic little red dress. I'm always a sucker for anything with a vintage vibe, and this dress I found at Anthropologie made me swoon. I felt like I'd step right out of the 1940s!
Even better, all the buttons means I can take it from the office to cocktails with just a few quick changes. It has a beautiful delicate leaf pattern that you can barely see, but perfectly ushers in the fall.
The shoes were a no-brainer. It doesn't get more retro than two-tone t-strap heels! They were my first pair of 'grown-up' shoes, crazily on sale and a present from my mom. I will wear them until they fall apart, and even then probably won't be able to part with them.

Peplum Party

While I love the look of peplum's on dainty runway models and 1940's movie sirens, I was never quite sure if I liked them on me. This dress has enough of a peplum (one half to be exact) to give it a vintage feel, but not so much as to date it as 'trendy.' The ruching on the bodice combined with the floral print and silhouette just further enhances the retro look.

Dresses like this are pure gold, because you can dress them up or down, take them to the office or out on the town. Its like two dresses for the price of one!

Ruffle Party

This outfit is thanks to....my mom...again. While its a much higher neck than I usually wear, I loved it anyway because of the cut. My favorite part about this top is that the ruffles are so detailed that there is no need for a necklace-- its like having jewelry built in!

So I guess this outfit is party in the front, business in the back?

Something Old, Something Borrowed, and Something New

I've been meaning to do a post on what I wore to my girlfriend's fantastic wedding last weekend but was hoping I could find some fancy high quality shots. Instead, I somehow I managed to not get a single shot of the head to toe look that wasn't a selfie. Whoops, guess someone was having a little fun!

Can we just talk about this dress for a minute? As usual, my amazing mom came through and let me borrow what she calls her 'prom dress.' It had a perfect retro vibe without being too over the top, and the photos just don't capture the detailing in the bodice and skirt. I can't remember the last time I danced/twirled so much!

Most of the jewelry (Again, as usual) was thanks to my grandmother's love of costume jewelry, so the only thing I had to buy were shoes. Not only were they crazy fun and made me at least 6 feet (love) but they were comfortable. I literally was jumping up and down in them and didn't fall once. I could go on and on about what a wonderful weekend it is, but that's not why you're here is it?

Practicing my twirling before getting all done up...

Dress: Nougat London {love this and this is just stunning}

Baubles and Butterflies

Tibi is one of my absolute favorite labels, and if I could, I'd snap up every single piece they made (but especially the skirts and dresses!) The styles and fabrics are always edgy classic and just girly enough, which is pretty much my ideal work and play wardrobe. Sure I have my over the top outfits, but one can't live on silver sequin dresses alone!

The skirt is great because the material is light enough that it'll be perfect in the summer with a hot pink tank, but works in the spring with a light sweater. I'm all about the multi-season wearability, it helps me rationalize the majority of my purchases.

Sweater: H&M // Skirt: Tibi {old but I love this Tibi and this floral Asos}
// Necklace: BaubleBar {similar here and here}

Bracelet: J. Crew // Nail Polish: Essie 'Madison Ave-Hue'

Ballet Flats: Sam Edelman {got them in nude too at Nordstrom's Rack!}

May Flowers

Things were getting bad guys. I was starting to feel like I would never ever ever see the sun again. Yes I am a tad overly dramatic, but like most people, the weather really influences my mood. My winter hibernation had finally ended and I did not want to fall back down that rabbit hole again.

Luckily, the truism was right-- All of our April showers were rewarded with, yes, May flowers. So what better way to celebrate sunshine and spring than sporting flowers and an abundance of Kelly green?

Sweater: J. Crew Tippi // Skirt: Ruth {super old but I love this and this one}
// Necklace: Banana Republic {old but similar here}

Nail Polish: Essie "Off the Shoulder"

Love the clasp on the necklace!

Pearls and Twirls

While this may not be my twirliest skirt (yes, I do rank clothes by their twirliness), its over 60 and I have banished my tights, so I'll be twirling and prancing around the city until fall. Since I still do have to work though, pearls at least bring me a little back down to earth and remind me of the need to still posses a degree of responsibility.
