Fashion Freedom

As much as I absolutely adore pretty much any and everything vintage, one of the few negatives from 'back in the day' were those pesky fashion rules. No open toes in winter! No white after labor day! And of course, NEVER pair navy with black. I'm not sure when exactly these rules went out the window, but no one bats an eye anymore these days if you break one of the 'cardinal' fashion sins of the past.

Do any of those rules still really exist? Maybe, don't wear white to a wedding, though I've seen that done and in rare cases encouraged. There are a lot more 'important' things to be thankful about living in present times --hello longer life expectancy...and technology of course-- but I still think our fashion freedom is something to be celebrated!

Its a Plaid, Plaid, World

I've been eyeing this scarf for ages and yet couldn't pull the trigger with the weather being in the 60s and 70s! This of course meant the color I wanted was sold out (now back in stock and purchased.) However this blue green version is an absolute dream and I literally didn't take it off once today, till I changed into pj's right after I got home of course.

So this one scarf started a shopping chain reaction...not only did it make me want more scarves, but more plaid, more coziness and more oversized anything!

Sweater Dress: J. Crew {similar here and here} // Scarf: Zara

Earrings: Fenton Fallon for J. Crew {old} // Lipstick: Model Co 'Party Proof'

Nail Polish: Opi 'Got the Blues for Red'{manicure thanks to my amazing sister!} // Ring: Charlotte Russe

Coat: J. Crew {similar} // Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim // Boots: Ash {try these}

{LOVE these boots-- so comfy and they convert to taller shafts too!}

Criminally Cozy

This is one of those wonderfully magical outfits that technically looks like I'm wearing real clothes, but feels like I'm wearing dreamy pajamas. Ok, to be more precise, I hope it looks like I'm wearing real clothes... This sweater is oversized, wide, swingy, and I couldn't love it more. Its as if a dress and sweater had a baby-- the best of both worlds in my opinion. Sure some people may think I'm wearing a linebacker's discarded sweater...or that I am secretly pregnant and trying to hide it (um NO), but I couldn't care less.

While I love flat over the knee boots since they make it much easier to avoid the pirate meets 'Pretty Woman' vibe than heeled ones, I think these are ladylike perfection and need to get in my closet ASAP...

Sweater: H&M {similar} // Leggings: Zara

 Nail Polish: Essie 'Devil's Advocate' // Ring: H&M // Cuff: Baublebar

{Can't wait till I finally get my Stuart Weitzman 5050's for my birthday!}
