I used to think of pearls exclusively as über conservative and limited to preppy ladies who lunch at country clubs (most likely named Muffy Von Something or other.) While I have obviously changed my mind, they still do make me feel a tad more lady-like.
There is no better way to ensure that my work outfits don't lean too much to the conservative than throwing in some leather. I fully believe leather makes everything better. Just imagine if I had (GASP) worn a plain knee-length skirt with this-- I'd be scared to walk out the door.
So this is my attempt to give prep the edge that it so desperately needs.
Skirt: H&M (old but similar here and here) // Necklace: BaubleBar (similar here and here)

First of all, I read that as "Downton" Prep, and got all excited for Lady Mary-inspired outfits.
ReplyDeleteSecond, even in pearls, you could never be conservative!
Third, I used to shun pearls too, until I got a family heirloop set for a wedding gift. Now I just think classic elegance...which you also pull off flawlessly. Boom.
First--Awwww sorry! Also HELLO best idea ever. We need to make this happen...
DeleteSecond-- That is one of my favorite compliments yet :)
Third-- You are totally right, classic elegance is a GOOD thing and (ahem) that's how I would describe YOU my dear
Maybe you should do a Downton theme shopping trip post with your friend, as we shop for a certain fall wedding we'll both be (hopefully) attending...?
DeleteMaybe that is one of the best ideas you have ever had (and you have had a LOT!) The wheels are turning as we speak....
DeleteME TOO!
ReplyDeleteI am SO on it!
