Seventies Safari

I don't know if its the corduroy jacket, safari skirt, over the knee boots or my unruly hair, but I am feeling a definite 1970s Parisian graduate student vibe. Ok, the Parisian part is probably just the stripes and wishful thinking, but I'm still going with it. I stopped questioning the way my mind works (at least when it comes to outfits) a looooong time ago, it just makes things much easier.

The Uniform

To say that I can't get enough of leather (be it real, faux or vegan) may be the understatement of the year. No matter how many shorts, skirts, jackets or pants I buy, I always seem to need (ok want) more. I've been almost as drawn to army green and camo, but not a full on addiction yet. So while not the most creative, its become one of my favorite go to combinations.

Everyone needs their own version of a uniform when it comes to getting ready...especially in the morning when I manage to never have enough time no matter how early I get up! Now excuse me while I go add more skirts to my virtual shopping cart...

Buried Treasure

As much as I adore this skirt (worn multiple times and in the pink as well), for once this post is not on the clothes but on the most incredible shoes I own. No not the most practical, not the most comfortable and they sure don't go with much, but the details are out of this world! I found them buried amidst the clearance racks of DSW ages ago... when I thought nothing of wearing shoes a size too small.

Even though I don't wear them a lot (again, too small) it makes me happy just knowing they are tucked away in my closet. The fabric alone is perfection-- Pucci prints are a weakness of mine-- but the details on the heel and sole are what make them out of this world.

I know I'm not the only one holding onto items like this, right??? Not in the 'one day it will fit me again' way, but those few pieces that are just too unique and beautiful to part with.

Sweater: Mago // Skirt: Asos

Heels: Pucci {try these}

The details on my shoes are just INSANE. Silver sculptured heels and soles with drawings of Italians? Yes please!

Ladylike

If you find something you love, hold on to it right? Oh, and then buy it in every color you can. Right, so that's why this skirt in blue just wasn't enough for me. Logical and practical, that's me! Thanks to our lovely 80 degree October weather, a coral skirt doesn't feel the least bit out of place (although even if it did, that wouldn't stop me!)
Now on to the star though, the shoes. I'd love to claim originality on them but Like anything and everything that Miss Blair Edie of Atlantic-Pacific wears, I immediately decided I had to make them mine. While my shoe obsession has taken a backseat lately to an unquenchable bag lust, its now back in full effect. You (and my bank account) have been warned...

City Safari

I'm a sucker for a good consignment score (well, who isn't?) so when I found this top and skirt at Secondi, totaling less than $100, I couldn't resist. While I always find cute items there, it can still be a little pricey for this gal. My lavender Milly jacket ended up matching really well-- a pleasant surprise since it was before my morning espresso.
I love how sometimes all it takes are a few new-to-me items to make old stand-bys feel fresh again. Of course, shopping in my own closet is why I always have a hard time getting rid of anything (hey, a silver sequin tunic will be practical one day.)
One day, I'll be ruthless and commit to The Great Closet Purge. One day.

Time for the Tropics

No, I'm not on my way to an island getaway that I somehow forgot to mention (I wish), but I am loving the tropical print on my skirt. After seeing palm prints everywhere this season, I was on a mission to make it my own, just at a much more reasonable price point.

Now I could have scoured the internet and stores alike for hours on end (as if I haven't done that before), but instead went straight to ebay. I can't even list all of the amazing finds I've scored on there, from vintage rings to new with tags Tibi! This little number popped right up-- Ann Taylor of all places and under $10! Done and done.

Hopefully it will help tide me over until I DO finally go on the tropical vacation of my dreams...

Golden Girl

Today I decided to take my love of gold to the next level and have half my body draped in liquid metallic-- in other words, not too different than most days... Seriously though, I did try to tone it down {a little} with my trusty blazer and breezy ladylike-length skirt.

White and gold is one of my favorite color combinations-- it immediately makes me think of beautiful beaches and island breezes. I felt very Grecian gold digger, but in a good way of course. Throw in the rope belt on the top {scored at a consignment store} and you can throw nautical into the mix as well.

Baubles and Butterflies

Tibi is one of my absolute favorite labels, and if I could, I'd snap up every single piece they made (but especially the skirts and dresses!) The styles and fabrics are always edgy classic and just girly enough, which is pretty much my ideal work and play wardrobe. Sure I have my over the top outfits, but one can't live on silver sequin dresses alone!

The skirt is great because the material is light enough that it'll be perfect in the summer with a hot pink tank, but works in the spring with a light sweater. I'm all about the multi-season wearability, it helps me rationalize the majority of my purchases.

Sweater: H&M // Skirt: Tibi {old but I love this Tibi and this floral Asos}
// Necklace: BaubleBar {similar here and here}

Bracelet: J. Crew // Nail Polish: Essie 'Madison Ave-Hue'

Technicolor Tulle

Yes, I love tulle. You know what makes tulle even better? Rows of ribbons and colors so bright they could practically blind you. So pretty much, this Asos skirt is a favorite.  The pearls and higher neckline are my attempts to make it more work appropriate.

Now, excuse me while I go prance around the office practicing my jetés

May Flowers

Things were getting bad guys. I was starting to feel like I would never ever ever see the sun again. Yes I am a tad overly dramatic, but like most people, the weather really influences my mood. My winter hibernation had finally ended and I did not want to fall back down that rabbit hole again.

Luckily, the truism was right-- All of our April showers were rewarded with, yes, May flowers. So what better way to celebrate sunshine and spring than sporting flowers and an abundance of Kelly green?

Sweater: J. Crew Tippi // Skirt: Ruth {super old but I love this and this one}

La Vie en Rose

There are lots of things I love; sunshine, chocolate, driving with the windows down, champagne, I could go on and on. One of my absolute favorite things though is really a place-- France, especially Paris. Its always been a magical place to me, ever since my first trip when I was 15 {Can't even believe how long ago that was!} The food alone would be enough to hook you, but the fashion? Ooh la la indeed!

While I may never master the elusive art of French women's style, it doesn't stop me from trying! Black and white stripes always get me in a Parisian state of mind, and well, I just love how it makes the red really pop!
Hey, its cheaper than a plane ticket...
