Closet Creations

I know I've been getting worse at blog posts lately. I could blame the summer, work, etc but really its only my bank account. In the interest of trying to be a grown-up and not buy EVERY SINGLE THING I WANT, I've been re-wearing oldies but goodies. Now, I can't really complain. Thanks to all of my previous shopping I have tons of options...but its just not as exciting. Nothing like a shiny new object to perk a girl up.

Its made me get more creative, which is a good thing. Plus, we all know when I say I'm behaving its not like I'm not shopping. I'm just not listing it as my sole extracurricular activity!

Summertime Blues

Between going through vacation withdrawal {even though it was super short, it sure was sweet} and realizing that I have a million summer things with tags on and its already August...it seemed appropriate to break out this tunic and my silver sandals. To make it less beachy and more casual work appropriate, I threw on PANTS. Yes, I do actually own pants. Shocking I know....

Tunic: d.ra {on sale at Urban Outfitters!} // Pants: Frame Denim 'le Skinny de Jeanne'

LWD

After being off of work for almost a week, lets just say that this Monday was even tougher than usual! I could barely drag myself out of bed, let alone put two brain cells together to form an outfit. Thank goodness I hand't worn this dress yet-- it was perfect to throw on and felt as cozy as pajamas. While the LBD may be forever classic, the LWD has been my go to all summer long!

Happy Little Accidents

Since I've already done a post on this dress before, I wasn't planning on doing another one...but then some of my random insta-shots actually turned out kind of fun {at least in my head...} Hey, at least I'm trying new things, right??

The Beauty of the Belt

I got this dress a few months back on sale from Anthropologie and was in love with the pattern and light flowy material. The cut of it is crazy comfortable, but I was worried that it looked like I was just wearing a gigantic Hawaiian shirt as a dress. So I followed one of my truisms-- When in doubt, belt it. Voila! Now its got a little bit more of a casual devil may care vibe, which I can totally get down with.

It truly feels almost criminal to be this comfortable!

The Little White Dress

I love white. Its crispness, boldness, and of course, it shows off even the slightest of a tan. You know what I don't love? Spending the entire day in fear of spilling all over it. Since I can't seem to stop buying white clothes though, I figured I may as well wear them. Plus, when its supposed to feel like 100 degrees, there's nothing like a little white dress to keep you cool(er)!

For once, nothing I'm wearing though is new, perhaps as penance for my Clover Canyon and Equipment mini-spree lately?

Fancy Friday: Hello Summer!

{image}

For me, summer starts the second the calendar hits June 1st, however today is the official first day. Even though we don't get summer vacation anymore (a travesty to be sure), there is still always that extra energy and anticipation for summer. Granted when its humid and 100 degrees in August we all curse the weather (cue "Cruel Summer" on endless repeat), but for now summer feels as carefree as this photo.

I took today off (no, not to get a head start on embracing any latent Paganism) to check out the new exhibit at the National Gallery 'Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, 1909-1929: When Art Danced with Music.'
My mom actually danced ballet  for quite a while and still loves it. While I may not have inherited
her grace nor her sense of rhythm, I do share her love for art...especially if Chanel costumes are involved!

Maybe later, I'll throw on a flower crown and crash a summer solstice party--
Have a Great Weekend!
