Cuckoo for Cocoa

I consider chocolate one of the essential food groups, so I must have had my favorite (dark!) on the brain while getting ready today. Even though I don't really think white chocolate counts, it helped prevent me from looking like a walking chocolate bar (or crayon.) Throw on my trusty gold chains and over the knee boots and I'm good to go!

Swanky Sweatshirt

After spending New Years day watching a 'Mindy Project' marathon, the idea of going back to work in anything other than pajamas was quite disconcerting. Thank goodness I had my fancy J. Crew sweatshirt! While not quite the same as pajamas, it sure helped to ease me back into the workweek without looking like a couch potato. Throw on some trusty flat over the knee boots and I was good to go.

Hope your 2014 is off to a great start!

Seventies Safari

I don't know if its the corduroy jacket, safari skirt, over the knee boots or my unruly hair, but I am feeling a definite 1970s Parisian graduate student vibe. Ok, the Parisian part is probably just the stripes and wishful thinking, but I'm still going with it. I stopped questioning the way my mind works (at least when it comes to outfits) a looooong time ago, it just makes things much easier.

Fuzzy Wuzzy

This jacket makes me feel like I'm getting a giant bear hug, but by a friendly stuffed animal version. I have no problem admitting that on more than one occasion I've found myself stroking my jacket. Totally normal, yes?! Also, totally normal to literally have every piece of your outfit be the same color, right?

Other than perhaps taking my outfit inspiration from chocolate bars, I was dying to wear my new boots and just went from there. The fact that I managed to wait three whole days actually may be a record. Doesn't get much more fun that breaking out a new purchase...unless of course its a new to me VINTAGE find! I've fallen down the fur {real and faux} vintage coat rabbit hole many a time.

Grecian and Gold

I am fully aware that I have been awful about posting lately, work and life have just been nuts. Some good, some bad, but all around NUTS. Hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things soon, but until then, I don't ever seem too busy for Instagram...

This dress was a great find from a little sample store in San Francisco called 'My Best Friend's Closet.' I always score some great pieces and deals whenever I get out there.  Sadly after these photos were taken, the tassel on my necklace mysteriously fell off...thank goodness I have my J. Crew one to replace it!
Ok now on to some serious business:

These new Karen Walker 'Super Duper' sunglasses are my everything.
I love them so much I practically sleep in them!

City Safari

I'm a sucker for a good consignment score (well, who isn't?) so when I found this top and skirt at Secondi, totaling less than $100, I couldn't resist. While I always find cute items there, it can still be a little pricey for this gal. My lavender Milly jacket ended up matching really well-- a pleasant surprise since it was before my morning espresso.
I love how sometimes all it takes are a few new-to-me items to make old stand-bys feel fresh again. Of course, shopping in my own closet is why I always have a hard time getting rid of anything (hey, a silver sequin tunic will be practical one day.)
One day, I'll be ruthless and commit to The Great Closet Purge. One day.
