Hot Pink Party

My love of Equipment tops goes without saying, though I still constantly say it anyway. Of course, its only natural that I'd feel the same about their dresses {and pajamas...which I covet and will one day make mine!} I bought this dress first in the pink...then in black... and then in camo. Usually if you keep your eyes open you can find it on sale, patience is a necessary virtue though. Aside from feeling as comfortable as pajamas, it makes getting ready a snap, and perfect for layering between seasons too.

So pretty much, the moral of this story is to go buy it now!

All Dressed in Black, Black, Black

...Why yes, I am referring to the children's clapping game 'Miss Mary Mack.' Not sure if I'm regressing or just reminiscing, but either way, its stuck in my head {and now yours, sorry!} I've been wearing more brights and colors lately, which usually happens when it warms up, but today I just wasn't up for it. Basic black all the way-- perhaps in mourning for running and heels?

Snake Charmer

Saying I love Equipment blouses {and tops, and sweaters...and oh yeah dresses} is as obvious as saying I like chocolate. I literally want everything they make {and any chocolate made too...but that's a different story} and this blouse was no exception. I'd been eyeing it, but had yet to pull the trigger. As always, my ever so styling Mom surprised me for Christmas with it--without even knowing I'd fallen in love!

Layers and Lace

I don't know if its the weather or its just easier, but I find myself wearing head to toe black even more than usual. Luckily, after 8 years wearing all black for bartending, my closet is brimming with black pieces. I love this Equipment blouse but its rather hard to wear on its own without being too scandalous {at least um...to work} so it was the perfect piece to layer under my swingy dress. Lately, I can't get enough drop waist dresses, probably because they make we want to twirl and shimmy...

The Golden Age

I obviously have a giant crush on any and everything gold..and chains?!? Please drape me in them every single day. So why would I stop at just gold jewelry, when I could wear a jacket painted with gold as well?

I hesitated buying the jacket last year...for all of five minutes. Its amazing how much it goes with, and certainly perks up any outfit. While I'm at it, why not throw on my favorite pair of pants (yes, pants) that always make me feel a little rockstar.

So gold, coated skinnies, and oh right, an Equipment blouse. I know I've waxed poetic on those before, but seriously guys, I may need a 12 step program for my addiction.

Currently Craving: Neutrals

As much as I love bold and bright colors, sometimes I prefer to have the colors more muted so that the eye doesn't get so distracted. I wouldn't mind having every one of these pieces in my closet ASAP. Everything but the skirt is on major sale or under $200...so why not pick up a piece...or three?

A Perfect Pair: Camo + Leather

I have a slight obsession with Equipment blouses, and by slight, I obviously mean HUGE. When I want to look put together but not like I'm trying too hard, they never fail. Their fabrics and prints are fantastic, like this one and the floral I wore here. I'm currently crushing on this heart print and the amazing cut-outs on this one. Speaking of cut-outs, I have their Nixie blouse in nude but seriously need it in black--I love pairing it with leather shorts. Don't even get me started on the fact that they now make sweaters...

Downtown Prep

I used to think of pearls exclusively as Ã¼ber conservative and limited to preppy ladies who lunch at country clubs (most likely named Muffy Von Something or other.) While I have obviously changed my mind, they still do make me feel a tad more lady-like.

There is no better way to ensure that my work outfits don't lean too much to the conservative than throwing in some leather. I fully believe leather makes everything better. Just imagine if I had (GASP) worn a plain knee-length skirt with this-- I'd be scared to walk out the door.

So this is my attempt to give prep the edge that it so desperately needs.

{Details, Details, Details}

I have both the blouse and sweater in multiple colors and patterns. The Equipment blouses aren't cheap, but they last and the cut is so worth it (plus, they go on sale!) The J. Crew Tippi is a great basic that you really can wear with anything. I'm a fan of both too because its so easy to dress them up and down (great for someone like me who enjoys multiple outfit changes.)
