Sequins, Sequins, Everywhere

I joke about how I can't stop buying sequins, but I legit don't seem to be able to stop! Need proof? Just look at this, this and this post for starters! They not only turn a seemingly blah outfit into something infinitely more fun, they also just make me happy. Cheaper addiction than say...sports cars...right?

Fancy Friday

sequin maxi + plaid slip-ons #obsessed

Well, New Years may have come and gone {don't even get me started on how crazily fast the holidays went by...} but I still have sequins on the brain. If anything, I want to wear them even more, and what better way to make them perfectly acceptable for daytime wear than a pair of sneakers? Have I mentioned I can rationalize anything?

Usually I'd be gung-ho about weekend escpades, but the combination of the holidays, NYE and this bitter cold, hibernation is way more appealing. I may not have dreams of sugarplums anymore, but you can bet I've got hot cocoa and fireplaces on the brain...

Have a great weekend and Happy New Year!

Why Hello There...

And the obsession with graphic tees and sequins continues! Apparently, I've decided to attempt to wear every piece of sequin clothing I own before New Years. What can I say, a rainy grey day just becomes infinitely better with a shimmering skirt. I'd been eyeing this t-shirt for a while but have been trying to hold off on online shopping...so of course when they had it in store on sale it was only logical to snap it up. I can rationalize anything, but add in the holidays and I'm pretty much done for. Ah well, Tis the Season!

T Shirt: J. Crew {on sale!} // Skirt: Lulu's {old but similar here and here}

Sweater: J. Crew

Ring: H&M // Bracelet: Vintage

Shiny Objects

Some people have coat closets, I really need a sequin closet. No matter how many sequin items I have, I just can't get enough. Even in the summer when its a million degrees, if I see a vintage sequin dress? Done. Do I already have two? Ok maybe, but shiny things just make me so happy. Once you throw the holidays into the mix, when it is socially acceptable to stock up on sequins, I am a goner.
Don't even get me started on sparkly jewelry {that addiction is equally as obvious anyway!}

This outfit was for the last of the work holiday events, a lunch, so I wanted to be festive but not over the top {hey, it IS still a work event after all.} I love a good cowl-neck but often find the color of this sweater {rust??} a bit meh, so it was the perfect foil to my sequin skirt. I may need a 12 step program for my addiction to these Stuart Weitzman boots too, has there even been a day I haven't worn them this week???

Sweater: J. Crew {similar here and here} // Skirt: J. Crew {similar} // Tights and thigh highs: H&M

Bracelet: J. Crew {try this or this}  // Nail Polish: Essie 'Midnight Cami'

...I also did not intend to be a walking J. Crew advertisement when I got dressed, but oh well!

Fancy Friday

Solid gold glamour #CocktailHour

Now that the holiday season is semi sorta almost upon us, my brain is again becoming a jumble of sequins, sparkles, metallics and well, anything that sparkles. Granted, I tend to stockpile party dresses like there is a sequin famine on the horizon, but I rarely end up wearing them. This year I will attempt to change that, if only so I can justify buying more of them!

I'm no longer living in fear of D.C.'s crazy temperature mood swings {I swear, this city changes its mind more than ME} and ready to embrace what little left we have of the year. Of course, yet again my Fall bucket list went largely unchecked, but there's always next year right?

Not quite sure what is on tap for this weekend, but in a good way. I've done enough overplanning for the rest of my life, so letting things just 'happen' every once in a while is a refreshing {and much needed} break.

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Mixing it Up

Like every other girl out there, I like sequins, especially daytime sequins. I remember waaaayy back when it was oh so revolutionary to rock sequins when the sun is still out. Now, nobody even gives it a second thought. So naturally when I think casual Friday, sequins, a white tee and a chambray skirt made total sense.

Granted, feathered skirts make sense to me too, but we'll save that for another day.

T-Shirt: Gap // Top: J. Crew Collection {similar} // Skirt: J. Crew {try this or this}

Yep, I loved my cheapie oversized sunglasses so much I got them in black too!

The (Color) Block Party

Its no secret that I adore shiny things, sequins being one of my absolute favorites. Since I do not live in Vegas or work at a nightclub, I have to find other times to break out my sequins. Daytime sequins can be more fun than at night because if forces you to get creative.

Tee: David Lerner // Sequin shell: J. Crew // Skirt: Odille {old but this works and of course the amazing Tibi one I want} // Bracelet: Forever21 {old but love this Sorelli one}

Blazer: Theory {similar J. Crew and an amazing Elizabeth & James}

{Love the unusual shape of the sequins}

I seriously can't keep track of this weather lately, but there was no escaping the fact that it still wasn't quite springtime. None of my usual raincoats worked with a tea length skirt, so I broke out this bad boy. My parents scored this for me in California on consignment years back, and it always makes me feel so grown up wearing it!
Trench Coat: Vintage Burberry {Similar here but the J. Crew Icon Trench is great and more affordable}

Fancy Friday: Sequin Edition

:: pinkie ::
I have almost too many sequin skirts, shirts, and dresses to count. Almost. Even though I don't wear them every day, its nice knowing they're there just in case. Perhaps I should call them my 'in case of emergency' sequins. While its entirely possible to dress down sequins for day {and a look I love to rock}, there is nothing that compares to an over-the-top-night-so-sparkly-its-blinding sequin dress.
